Impressionist Landscape in Oil

In this 5-lesson course, you will create your own finished oil painting, 30 × 40 cm, and go through the entire process step by step: from choosing a subject and making the first sketch to the final expressive brushstrokes.

The theme of the course is landscape. Each participant will work on their own painting and choose their own subject. It can be a favourite place, a forest path, the sea, mountains, a city park, or any other landscape you would like to paint.

Before the course starts, we will ask you to collect a few photographs or images of places that inspire you. During the first lesson, together with the teacher, you will choose the most suitable subject, discuss the composition, and decide on the direction for your painting.

Over the five lessons, you will work on one painting, gradually developing it from a simple composition and initial layers into a finished artwork.

During the course, you will learn how to:

• build a strong composition for your painting;
• turn a photograph or reference image into a painterly artwork;
• work with oil paints and mix colours;
• create a harmonious colour palette;
• convey light, atmosphere, and volume;
• work with brushes and a palette knife;
• create expressive brushstrokes and lively texture;
• take a painting from the first sketch to a finished artwork.

We will work in an Impressionist-inspired style: freely, confidently, and expressively, with a special focus on colour, light, atmosphere, and brushwork.

The course takes place in a group, so you will be able to observe how other participants work, discuss different approaches, and learn from each other. At the same time, the teacher will provide individual guidance to every participant throughout the whole process.

The course is suitable for beginners. No previous experience with oil painting is required. The teacher will guide you through the entire process step by step.

By the end of the 5 lessons, you will have created one finished 30 × 40 cm oil painting and gained a practical understanding of how to develop a landscape painting independently, from the initial idea to the final brushstrokes.
